It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt remembrance that we announce the passing of Lewis Lorin
Lamb, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Lewis was born in
Logan, Utah on May 2, 1936, to Lorin Suel Lamb and Avon Lee Lamb. He was the youngest of six
children and grew up in Hyde Park, Utah. Lewis attended elementary school in Hyde Park and
graduated from North Cache High School.
On July 28, 1954, Lewis married Margie Housely Lamb in the Logan LDS Temple. Together, they
shared a life filled with love, adventure, and devotion while raising their 7 children. Lewis
pursued his passion for teaching and coaching, earning a teaching degree in education from
Utah State University where he also wrestled for the college. He taught for a decade in Grace,
Idaho, where he made lifelong friends and coached wrestling, football, and track.
In 1972, Lewis accepted a teaching and coaching position at Star Valley High School. He
dedicated himself to the school and its students until his retirement in 1996. As a coach Lewis
leaves behind a legacy of winning as he coached several state championship teams both in Star
Valley and Grace. Through sports and life, Lewis was known to be a fan of the underdog and
encouraged those around him to never quit.
Lewis enjoyed spending time with the youth and didn’t mind the extra work he had to do to
bring any kids or grandkids along for a horse ride, hunt, or a day of work.
Lewis loved and cared for Margie until her passing in 1993. Lewis married Linda Erickson in July
of that same year. He loved and served Linda until her passing in May 1996. Later that year,
Lewis married Kathie Peterson from Grace, Idaho.
Together, Lewis and Kathie served a mission to the Russian people of Vladivostok from 1997 to
1999. Lewis remained a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
throughout his life, serving his fellow man with dedication and Christ-like love. He was always
willing to accept any calling large or small. He was a bishop from 2000-2005 and served in the
temple as an ordinance worker.
Those that knew Lewis know that he could always be relied on for a good prank, scare, or laugh.
He seemed to have 9 lives and he lived each of them to the fullest.
Lewis is survived by his wife Kathie, his seven children Richard Lewis Lamb (Susan), Carolyn
Sommer (Thane), Connie Luthi (Todd), Linda Call (Russell), Tami Gardner (Rollin), LouAnn Izatt
(Dale), and James Glen Lamb (Christie), as well as 26 grandchildren and 59 great-grandchildren.
Lewis passed peacefully surrounded by his family at home, facing the mountains he loved, on a
beautiful Sunday morning, April 21, 2024. He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and devotion
that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
